About Sharethrough

Sharethrough is the leading video distribution network for branded online video content. From viral videos to webisodes to branded entertainment, we guarantee audiences for top brands, media companies, and video marketers. We believe the future of online video is media, not advertising, and we are working with top brands and media companies (Sony, XBOX, Microsoft, Pepsi, Activision, etc.) to build cutting edge technology products for distributing videos online.

Every day, we apply math, science, and technology to the art of virality and sharing.

Sharethrough is one of the leading advocates of agile development, lean startup, and customer development. We are backed by Valley notables like Mike Maples, Steve Blank, Eric Ries, and Dave McClure, the early investors and advisors to companies including Google, Facebook, and Twitter.

The Sharethrough Story

Social network applications and video marketing: a match made in heaven.

Office

Sharethrough was born through the combination of two passions: viral video and social network applications. Sharethrough's founders initially met each other through the first Stanford Facebook Platform class in the fall of 2007. Dan Greenberg and Robert Fan were TAs for the class, with Brett Keintz as their student.

Through the course of the Facebook class and after, the team built and launched more than 50 Facebook applications which quickly garnered more than 20 million users, cementing their belief in powerful viral communication channels inherent to social networks. Concurrently, Dan was running a consultancy to help Hollywood studios make their online video content go viral in advance of film premieres, raising awareness and boosting box office success.

Viral channels plus engaging video: shareable media

The team realized that the tools that people were already using to share media around the web were refined and focused to their purest form by social network and the applications that ran on them.

By combining the natural sharing features and mindset built into social networks, together with engaging video, Sharethrough could dramatically lower the barrier for the audience to engage with and share. Ever since, Sharethrough has focused their efforts on using the power of social networks and sharing to make media more shareable.
